  Telework and telematics in Ukraine

Contents of the Workshop 24-25 April 2003

The European Commission, Directorate General Information Society by its IST TELESOL project organizes a regional workshop "Telework in medicine and business"
on 24-25 April 2003
in Kiev, Ukraine.

”Telework in medicine and business” regional workshop aims at strengthening commercial, scientific and technological co-operation between the European Union and Ukraine in the field of IT application to new methods of work, business applications, with an emphasis on Ukraine-EU business and scientific communities’ cooperation.

This regional workshop will increase awareness about the experience and newly developed teleworking tools for the establishing and running of fruitful telework projects between EU and CIS countries. The European and CIS companies will learn about the ways of practical implementation of joint telework into their activities.
Participants of the workshop will present their ideas, which will be carefully documented for further developments, and the agreements of co-operation could be signed between those participants wishing to implement possible projects. A list of signed agreements will be published on the TELESOL Web-site for further development.

Participants of the workshop also will present achievements and activities in business sector as well as telework solutions in medicine and business and will find the solutions of co-operation in business through Internet.
The workshop presents an opportunity for European and Ukrainian companies to exchange innovative and successful experiences to improve scientific and technological research and initiate first steps towards co-operation in IT applications.

Workshop 19 April 2002

The international conference on telematics and telework took place in National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute" 19 april 2002. The conference have united members from different countries, such as Ukraine, Netherlands, Portugal and Russia. This conference is one of important steps on the way of implanting of new informational and telecommunication technologies into the work of companies, scientific structures, banks etc. The organisers of conference named "Telematics in investigations, medicine and business" are National Technical University of Ukraine "Kiev Polytechnic Institute", international association "Earth data natwork for education and science" EDNES, and also Institute of Applied System Analysis (Kyiv). The coordinator and initiator of conference from Ukrainian side is rector of NTUU "KPI", academician Mikhail Zgurovsky.

The aim of the conference is to demonstrate the main points of "Informational society technologies" program to the interested countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine. The cooperation between these countries includes experience exchange, new ways of informational technologies development with taking into account the western countries experience.

For example, "Uran" system is developed on the base of NTUU "KPI". This system is telecommunication network for educational and scentific structures. It's "brain" is situated in Kyiv, and regional centers are situated in Kharkiv, Lviv, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk. On the base of "Uran" the Ukrainian center of distance education is opened.

The great success in telemedicine field is reached in our country. Now medicians can make a diagnosis for the pacient that is in another city. International telemedicine center (Kyiv) works under such systems creation. The chief of the center is Alexandr Poyda.

The meeting in Kyiv is the first of two conferences and seminars that are planned for nearest future in the boundaries of "Informational society technologies" program.
