Virtual Reality Modelling: a revolutionary approach to Environmental
Protection
Virtual environments will begin to appear
all over the net.
Some will be realistic, some abstract.
Some will be functional,
others creative. Some will be informative,
somefanciful. … But they
will all be “real” in a way that text
and pictures by themselves can never be.

“Using VRML”
Virtual Reality
Modelling Language (VRML, often pronounced ver-mul) is the open standard
for virtual reality on the Internet. VRML is to immersive 3-D on the Internet
what HTML is to 2-D. Instead of having a flat page, there is a world you
can move around in with the help of some VRML browser or viewer.
Virtual Reality
Modelling Language (VRML) is a language for describing worlds; i.e. not
static images, or even movies, but real, three-dimensional worlds that
you can move around in and explore. When you call up a VRML file, you’re
not retrieving information – you’re entering a world. In time, the
objects in those worlds will acquire the ability to move and change and
respond to human interaction.
Recent development,
especially in 1998, of 3-D modelling on the Internet: for building
scenes, browsing them, for programming VRML tools, gives new way of net
communications. Achievements made in EU countries need to be promoted to
European CIS countries.
