The technologies being used in the telematics projects are wide ranging. High capacity networks like ATM, ISDN are being used alongside the Internet and WWW, via different connections. Hybrid systems like CATV are being used to handled multimedia material. Multimedia information is being stored on discs like CD-ROM and CD-i.
        Communication is improved using computer and video-conferencing. While some projects are using newer technologies such as LAN and ATM, others are using established technologies like satellite and terrestrial television in an innovative way. This variety of technologies allows the delivery of all kinds of learning materials, or the possibility of almost face-to-face contact with teachers and learners across Europe.
