Environmental Protection and Geosciences technologies of the Joint Research Centre (JRC ISIS) of the European Commission: The CEO Programme

        The CEO (Centre for Earth Observation) Programme is a European initiative to encourage the wider use of information generated by satellites which are observing the planet Earth, its climate and environmental conditions. The original data is collected by satellites and usually requires specialist processing and interpretation to provide information which is useful for customers. The CEO Programme team is based at the Joint Reasearch Centre, Ispra in northern Italy and in Brussels.

        The CEO Programme funds many projects related to Earth observation. Currently these include:

The CEO has also developed other systems, complementary to the EWSE,for the G7 ENRM (Environment and Natural Resources Management) Project and for CEOS (Committee on Earth Observation Satellites).
